Global Exploration for Educators Organization (GEEO)

GEEO is a 501c3 non-profit organization that runs summer professional development travel programs designed for teachers. 

GEEO is offering the following travel programs for 2014: India/Nepal, Italy, Portugal/Spain, Amalfi Coast, Greece, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Thailand/Laos, Cambodia, China, Turkey, South Africa/Mozambique/Zimbabwe/Botswana, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Peru, and The Galapagos Islands. The registration deadline is June 1st, but space is limited and many programs will be full well before the deadline. 

Educators have the option to earn graduate school credit and professional development credit while seeing the world.  The trips are 8 to 24 days in length and are designed and discounted to be interesting and affordable for teachers. GEEO provides teachers educational materials and the structure to help them bring their experiences into the classroom. The trips are open to all nationalities of K-12 and university educators and administrators, as well as retired educators. Educators are also permitted to bring along a non-educator guest.

Dallas Holocaust Museum - Curriculum Trunk Program

3 curriculum trunks available for loan to teachers for a 3-week period at no cost.  Shipped for free to schools located outside a 35 mile radius of the museum.  Trunks available for elementary, middle/intermediate/junior high, and high school.  Many books and curriculum for language arts teachers, all with a multi-disciplinary approach.

Pursuing Your Passions – YoungArts/MasterClass

Pursuing Your Passions – YoungArts/MasterClass (www.youngartsmasterclass.org) is a study guide designed for educators to embrace and integrate the arts into their classrooms. The project allows teachers to: 

  • Create their own customized lesson plans using the lessons and activities available on the site to integrate the arts into the subject areas of the humanities, visual & performing arts, math, and science. 
  • Develop a free website to connect with their students on the Teacher Network. 
  • Have free access to all nine episodes of HBO’s inspirational MasterClass mini-series online. 
  • Request a free copy of the complete DVD and lesson/activity guide.
